Gitchi Gummi Soccer Club

How Do I Join Gitchi Gummi Soccer Club?

It’s simple!
Our club is based in Duluth, MN and includes players from all around NE Minnesota and NW Wisconsin. We've had players from cities across the Arrowhead, North Shore, and the Iron Range regions, and from Ashland, Washburn, Bayfield, Superior and all points between.

Registration for league play (12U-17U, player assessment based) and tournament-only teams (9U-11U, some 12U) will open in August, through this website. Click on REGISTER above to begin the process.  If you happen to find registration is closed, you can
email us at duluthgitchsoccer@gmail.com to let us know that you are interested.  Please include the age/birthdate of your son or daughter in the message.  We'll contact you with more information.

Tryouts for league teams take place in the summer of each year, after the previous playing season. League and tournament play is the following spring and summer. Our teams either play in the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association (MYSA) league with the northern suburbs of Mpls/St. Paul, play in tournaments around the state, or both. Some older teams may choose tournaments that are held out of state.

Families looking to register for our Juniors or Lil' Kickers summer programs can register via the Player Development tab above.

“Our son entered Gitch when he was 10. It’s tough to describe the pride we felt when he played his first college game.  We credit the excellent coaching he got from 8 years of Gitchi Soccer.”    - Wayne and Debbie Peterson

Why should I Join Gitchi Gummi S.C.?

Gitchi Gummi Soccer Club is the Northland's oldest and most respected competitive youth soccer organization. It is comprised of professional coaches, players, and supporters who want to offer the youth of our region an opportunity to experience and participate in premier soccer at all levels—from developmental to collegiate Division I, and everything in-between.

Those who participate in our programs realize very quickly why our organization is unique; we provide a proven, skills based program, in partnership with the West Ham United Football (Soccer) International Academy, that will allow your son or daughter to develop at a rate which will help them play soccer at the highest levels, while forming friendships and developing relationships in a welcoming and healthy environment.

We aren't a feeder program for any particular school. We are, however, an organization that is proud of the fact that our players are the majority on local High School rosters and play in colleges all over the country. We welcome everyone, and we don't discriminate by city or state lines.

We are proud of our history and even more proud of our kid's accomplishments (see the Alumni page, above!).  If you have a young son or daughter that is thinking about getting involved with soccer, we welcome you to contact us for more information. If you're a player and aren't satisfied with your current rate of development and you want to learn how we can help—contact us and we'll do our best to answer any questions you might have.

If you want to get the satisfaction that comes with volunteering for the Northland's premier soccer club—contact us. We have lots of opportunities for you to get involved with youth athletic development and would love to have you as part of our team!

“I love Gitch because of the friends I’ve made, and I’ve gotten way better at soccer!”

-Julie, Age 10

What does it Cost to join Gitch?

Registration fees start at $100.  Then, there is an additional base fee set every year which includes the cost of administration, MYSA and Fields-For-Duluth fees, coach's compensation, practice rental, line items for team equipment, and a donation toward player assistance fees.  Based on the previous years fundraising success (tournament revenue, Gitch Gear sales, concessions, etc.), there is a club credit applied to the base fee too.  A detailed breakdown is made available to current members.

Not included in the base fee would be uniforms - sold through Eurosport, extra tournament fees and the related costs (hotels, gas, food), and/or extra practice time not covered by the base fee.  Many players buy warm-up jackets, pants, and other Gitch Gear like sweatshirts, t-shirts, hats, and other non-required items.  Several teams may rent buses to go to away league games and incur the additional costs associated with that.

Some teams choose to fund-raise on their own to cover portions of the extra cost, but not all.  We leave decisions about fundraising and extra costs up to each individual team.
